Approximately 40 % of global fisheries catches are bycatch. These unwanted species, many endangered, are typically thrown back into the water, dead or injured.
Moreover, Abandoned, Lost, or otherwise Discarded fish gear (ALDFG) continues to harm sea creatures – entangling and suffocating them to death.
This ocean shelf is designed as a proof that we can help save lives of these animals by turning plastic waste, especially fishing gear, into a multipurpose shelf that helps save the oceans.
